Experience NAIA – State of the Association and COP Recap
State of the Association and
Council of Presidents
In this year’s State of the Association presentation, NAIA President Jim Carr addressed a variety of topics including divisions in basketball, championships, Return on Athletics progress, and the overall growth made by the association in the last year. The presentation also included a member panel with Dr. Amy Novak (Dakota Wesleyan University), Mike McCaffrey (University of St. Francis), Keith Spataro (Menlo College), and Tressa Linson (Lyon College) discussing the value of athletics to their respective campuses.
The COP voted to move the NAIA to a single division in both men’s and women’s basketball, effective for the 2020-21 academic year, with a maximum limit of eight scholarships for each. The decision was approved by the Council of Presidents today at the NAIA National Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
